AW11 DAVID KOMA SHOW

The collection focused on the synonymous David Koma body conscious silhouette, showcasing sculptural leather paneled dresses with a more sleek and grown up, refined elegance.

Adorned with embroidery and layered repetitive circular laser cut patterns in cashmere wool and soft Nappa leather are translated onto the female body to reflect the obsession of the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.

A collaboration with contemporary photographer, Oleg Dou sees the introduction of vivid digital print. Further inspiration from Leigh Bowery’s eccentric and eclectic look that famously masked his appearance, led to the idea of obscuring Dou’s photographs of faces with white or multi-colour dots.

This was contrasted with the 3-dimensional giant multi- acid coloured fur pom-poms which added a fun sense of humor and retained David’s love of sculptural embellishment with flashes of ‘Pop’ shades of blue, yellow, red, pink and green.

New for the season Koma adds outerwear in sculptural cape-like jackets and feminine A-line dress coats referencing the tiny waists and strict tailoring of 1950s shapes.

Hair was created by the Sebastian Professional team led by Shay Dempsey producing slender ponytails styled with long black ribbon.
