BEAUTY
Modus first opened its doors to beauty clients back in 1996 when MAC cosmetics launched in the UK. This was the start of a 6 year relationship, infiltrating backstage at London Fashion Week and launching the Viva Glam ranges for the MAC Aids Foundation with the likes of Ru Paul, Lil’ Kim, Mary J. Blige and of course Elton John.
We continued our relationship with cosmetics brands working with Aveda, Nars, Chantecaille and most recently Stila still with a strong presence at London Fashion Week. The popularity of fake tanning was spearheaded by one of our long standing clients St. Tropez, one of the first tanning brands to debut on the runway, a new form of colour work that we continue today with Sienna X.
Modus was first introduced to multi-product skincare brands by working with the Body Shop (timeframe???) which gave us the experience of working with a wide variety of products and a brand that promoted its integrity along with its offer. Additional beauty launches included working on Christy Turlington’s Sundari collection (timeframe???), the British skincare sensation Liz Earle (time???), Korres (timeframe???), and the opening of the Elemis’ day spa (timeframe).
In 2012, our experience and expertise in this sector has been channelled into launching M&S Your Beauty: The Best of Nature and Science, the new Marks & Spencer Beauty Hall and the Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar in Liverpool. Additionally, Modus continues to work with a variety of beauty and skincare brands including: Ren: Clean Skincare, Miracle Skin Transformer, Beauty‘In, Cover FX and Stila.
MAC
Modus launched MAC in the UK, with national and selected regional media relations, new product launches, unique events and focus on London Fashion Week.
A busy pro-active and re-active sampling service produced around 150 press requests for existing products each month and around 135 items of coverage each month. An intensive media campaign was put in place for MAC Cosmetics across beauty, fashion and style press. A series of monthly one-to-one appointments, held with a MAC make-up artist on hand to demonstrate, was our method of presenting new and existing products ranges to all national and selected regional media.
M&S – YOUR BEAUTY
This year, M&S launched a brand new dedicated beauty offer to be rolled out across its stores nationwide and online, with public relations being handled by Modus. Positioned as Your Beauty – The Best of Nature and Science, M&S has reviewed its entire beauty offer, repackaging and improving all of its existing own brand products and will reveal a totally new store fit and customer service offer, as well as selecting some of the best brands on the market to compliment its own brand.
HARVEY NICHOLS BEAUTY BAZAAR
Harvey Nichols chose Modus to look after the launch of the first Beauty Bazaar concept in the UK, based in the Liverpool ONE shopping district. Beauty Bazaar is a unique space spread across three floors, housing the very best brands in the market alongside the very latest services that will ensure grooming of the highest level, all within the convenience of a single space.
Did we mention the champagne and cocktail bar?
STILA
Since successfully re-launching the brand into the UK in July 2012 after a three year hiatus, Modus continues to create a buzz around the brand and its new collections which in turn helped to leverage key retail partners, including a roll out into further key Boots stores, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Space NK and key Airline retail.
Modus secured Stila’s first London Fashion Week makeup sponsorship deals with David Koma and Matthew Williamson for AW12, which cemented Stila’s credibility as a trends-led makeup artist brand.
SIENNA X
Launched in 2008, Sienna X has grown to become one of the most loved tanning ranges by professionals and celebrities alike. Modus has worked with Sienna X and tanning professionals to move the brand to centre stage by launching “Touche de Soleil” at London Fashion Week with designer Holly Fulton.
